Halloween Little Monsters

AHHHH! Baby Magic's kindergarten class is having a party today to celebrate Halloween. I had planned on having this post up earlier, in case anyone needed an idea for treats but hey, you can save it for next year. I signed up to bring the sweet treat. There are 26 kids in her class. Yep. 26. Such an odd number! Well, it's an even number but you know what I mean! I went back and forth about a few things I saw on Pinterest, but ultimately decided not to make them too spooky because, 5 year olds. A quick tip, always read through any recipe you are planning to make before you even head to the store. Check your pantry/cupboard before you go to make sure you aren't buying something you already have (I'm bad at this). Plan ahead. If you can do any of the prep work beforehand, it will be a huge time saver. I saved no time this go around. Baby Magic requested cake pops because that's what I made last year. Cake pops are SO time consuming and I wasn't in the m

The Hate U Give (Movie Edition)

Poster from the AMC Pavilion in Charlotte, NC *Disclaimer* There may be spoilers in this post. If you haven't seen the movie, or read the book, you may want to wait before you read this post. With that being said, I haven't yet read the book. I will read it soon though. The previews for this movie tell you the turn of events, so you know that the lead role, Starr, witnessed a police shooting of her friend and is the only witness. What the previews don't tell you is how much TRUTH is being told. Again, I haven't read the book so I can't compare the theatrical release to the book just yet. My sister and I cried just about the entire movie. I mean blinding tears. Not with ugly sobs, because we were in a movie theater, but if the lights had been on... I think this is a movie that everyone needs to see. Black, white, young, and old. Maybe it will make some hurt that you have lived through return, maybe it will give you insight on how being black is often cons

Welcoming Fall!

It seemed like Fall was NEVER going to get here! I'm so ready to wear boots and scarves! Fall is my absolute favorite time of year. The colors, the warmth, and especially the food! I. Love. Soup! I'm hoping to try a lot of new recipes - and actually share them. Soups, stews, chilis, all the fall things. Well, except pumpkin. I'm not a fan of pumpkin flavored anything. It does not taste like sweet potato. People need to stop telling that lie lol. With the turn of the season, we have been hit with a nasty virus. I say we, but I mean Baby Magic. She's been sick over 2 weeks now. She's gone through so much in these two weeks. Hopefully it passes soon. She's tired, mommy's tired. Asthma and allergies suck. I know that we will most likely have another snap of summer, but I hope it doesn't last too long. It seems like we had summer for 6 months this year. They don't call us "Famously Hot" for nothing. I'm also looking forward to using
