Baby Magic is 5!

Looking forward to what the year of 5 has in store!

Now that the tears are dried.

Hey y'all! I can't believe how quickly these 5 years have gone by! It seems like I JUST had her! No it doesn't, but still. It has been constant and exciting and draining and full of love. Time really does fly by!

This year we went back and forth between Disney Descendants 2 and a Unicorn theme. Despite my best efforts, the unicorn won.

I had planned out the cake and had planned to invite 10 friends and hope that was all that showed up. I know better. LOL. We are truly blessed to have such an amazing village and SO much love. I don't know what I would do without my village!

The party was originally supposed to be a trip to Carowinds. I was not taking any unsupervised children. I didn't want the responsibility. But upon doing a little research I learned that there was a kid's fest scheduled for that day at Carowinds. There was NO way I was going to be any part of that. None. Of. It. So I said OK to hot dogs and cake and ice cream. Baby Magic asked for a full grilled meal but nah. The hot dogs didn't even make it to the grill. They got cooked in the oven (still yum).

11am party. Ending at 2. Was supposed to end at 2. I thought the kids would be running to leave with the heat. It was humid, but wasn't too hot. It ended around 4, with some stragglers spending the night lol.

The next morning we headed out to Carowinds. I was pleasantly surprised that there were not droves of people there. The wait time in the lines wasn't bad. It was hot, but not scorching.

By the time we made it to the water park, the kids had gained a second wind. And for the first time in her life, Baby Magic was excited to get in the water. It was miraculous.

I tried to keep it simple. I cleaned the carport, set up a few tables and chairs, put a TV outside for Just Dance and we played pin the horn on the unicorn (and I forgot to get a prize for the winner). Everyone seemed to enjoy the day, so I was pleased.

I ended up changing the design for the number 5 cake as I was decorating because I was tired and my brain cells were shutting down. I'm glad though, because I LOVED the outcome. It was different and not as "unicorny" as your typical cake. However, my little diva did ask for the cupcakes to be vanilla and for a separate lemon cake. Mommy obliged. The little unicorn cake wasn't sturdy enough to hold the horn so it too was barely a unicorn lol. She didn't seem to mind.

My coworker Lucy helped me with the shirts! "Five Because Four Is So Last Year!"

The treat bags!
Full of love!

Pin the horn on the Unicorn

Thanks to my cousin Tasha for tackling her hair! It was so cute!

The adults had a blast too!

There is always something for the kids to do at my house!

Say cheese with auntie Chan and cousin Alyssa!

Hey Shayna!

Photo booth fun with friends!

I use jumbo marshmallows as space fillers. Those were eaten as well!

The final cake! She requested these colors!

It was on it's way to being a unicorn...

The birthday girl and mommy!

The treat bags were made using the same technique as last year. A different printer and better quality paper were used this year.

The cupcake cake was made with vanilla sour cream cupcakes with vanilla buttercream. I used Americolor gel colors for the different shades on the frosting. I made the little horns with gum paste that I colored and used a silicone mold that I found on Amazon.

The little cake with ears was a lemon cake with cream cheese frosting.

We served hot dogs with chili, pasta salad, hummus and veggies, punch, water and cupcakes and ice cream.

We are so very appreciative for those that show love and support. We hope that our love is shown in return!

We are now preparing for kindergarten!

Dial Vitamin Boost Giveaway

Howdy folks! Dial sent me a bottle of their new Vitamin Boost Body Wash to test out. They even sent me a few coupons to give away to you guys! Don't they ROCK?! Yeah they do, and so does this new body wash! I got the product a few weeks ago, but as is with most things that come to my house, it just sat in the living room unopened. Not because I didn't want to open it...but I've been a little short on time. Even with several snow days it seems like I just don't have enough hours in a day. Does that mean I don't wash? NOOOO. It means that this body wash just made it upstairs with me this morning! LOL I'm always skeptical about "moisturizing" body washes. I have extremely sensitive, eczema prone skin. So I really have to be careful. Even some washes that claim to be triple moisturizing dry me out and leave me wishing I had one of those cat towers to rub up against. So I finally got to test the waters with this one. Here are what this product c

Dial Baby & Kids (Giveaway)

Let me start by saying that the toddler years are fun...and a true test of faith and patience LOL! I love my little tot with everything I have in me. But every day she tests my limits in way I didn't even know were possible. I mostly laugh. She is a very spirited little girl who LOVES to be outside. I mean she will cry to go outside and sometimes all she wants to do is climb in a chair and sit on the porch and watch the cars go by. On this particular day though...(Jesus be a fence) she wanted to chase lizards, pop bubbles, shred leaves, kick her ball in the sticker bushes and throw a flower pot off the deck to see how far she could get it to go. Maybe softball is in her future, who knows LOL. That said ball ended up bursting from being repeatedly kicked in the sticker bushes... After our world wind backyard excursion, we go inside to have a snack and settle down a bit. Luckily she likes to wash her hands. I mean, she almost had that lizard! She really enjoys Dial W

Holiday Party Etiquette

With the holidays coming up on us so fast, it’s only right that we talk party etiquette. I can only speak about Black party etiquette, so that’s what I will discuss here. I'm sure some of these rule can be applied across different cultures/ethnicities. If you are invited to a party, gathering, dinner, or the like, there are some things that you just don’t do. If we invited you, we must like you at least a little bit. That can end quickly. Here are some general rules of Black house gatherings that expand beyond the holidays. You’re welcome. Don’t assume all Black events start late. Yes…a lot of them do, but you don’t want to be the late one. If I tell you it starts at 3, I’ve most likely accounted for the lateness of my family members. We move on without them. Don’t be tardy for the party. Don’t show up empty handed. Even if you are told not to worry about bringing anything, bring something. Even if it’s a bottle of sparkling cider. There will be massive side eye if you s
