Happy er Belated Valentine's Day!
I hope you all had a day full of love and sweet things! This year I decided to sell treat boxes. It was purely monetarily motivated and I should have started doing it a long time ago! I had already set plans in motion to go to Essence Fest and frankly, it's not cheap. I'm not poor, but I'm far from rich. I have to have extra hustles.
I went back and forth about what I would put in the boxes and how much I would sell them for. In the end, I under priced them. It was a tremendous amount of work! Over the two days that I was baking I maybe got 4 hours of sleep. And the first day I had to work a full day and then go home to bake.
It was fun though. I learned a lot of what to do and what not to do. The best things for me were having extra bowls and beaters for the KitchenAid (thanks Gabrielle) and mixing the dry ingredients into ziptop bags so the measuring and sifting was already done. This saved me LOADS of time! What I won't do if I do this again is: go to work a full day then bake all night, buy too many supplies and waste money, and I definitely won't under price the work. I bought too much stuff. I got so excited to see all the pretty sprinkles and bags and other stuff and I bought them all. Most of which I can't return for full price, but thank goodness Michael's always has coupons!
I thought that boxes turned out so cute! In the end, I wish I had made a box for myself! Enough of the talking let me show you what I did.
The process is always messy. I turned my dining area into a mini factory and got busy!
Candied Pretzels |
Chocolate Covered Strawberries |
Red Velvet Cupcakes with Marshmallow Cream Cheese Frosting |
Vanilla Cupcakes with Vanilla Frosting |
Mini Peach Cobbler |
Chocolate Chip Cookies. I also made White Chocolate Chip Cookies |
And here is what the final box looked like. I purchased the boxes from a local store in Columbia, SC - If It's Paper. I lined the bottom of the box with a piece of wax paper and then topped it with a Valentine inspired piece of tissue paper purchased from the Dollar Tree.
Also in the box is salted caramel brownie bites and a mini bottle of sparkling wine. |
I hope that everyone that purchased a box from enjoyed their treats! I am beyond appreciative for the support and I hope to be able to offer something similar at other times! If you are celebrating Lover's Day this weekend, I hope that your heart is full to the brim with love and adoration!
XOXO,
RoJo
